​​​A significant number of awards have been presented to COWI UK Limited over the years.

2016

Saltire Society Awards for Civil Engineering 2016 (in Association with the ICE), Project Commendation: Engineered in Scotland, Ngau Tam Mei to Tai Kong Po Tunnel. The Designer's use of Value Engineering has significantly improved the finished product of this high profile tunnelling project in Hong Kong. By addressing four key areas, namely the tunnel crossover cavern, a second access shaft at Tai Kong Po, reshaping the tunnels to generate substantial reinforcement reductions and rationalising wall radii to allow shutter re-use, the project has benefitted in cost, programme and risk reduction.

2015

NCE Tunnelling and Underground Space Awards 2015, Specialist Tunnelling Project of the Year Category: Fleetwood Wastewater Treatment Works (WwTW), Storage Tank & Connecting Tunnel works.  40m works – pipe jack tunnel  construction (8.5ID diameter + 40.55 MID) and 2 shafts DWall 30m deep in glacial till.

Ground Engineering Awards, Consultant of the Year 2015, Winner.

Ground Engineering Awards, Geotechnical Projects Value up to £500k, High Commended: Stabilisation of soil pillar adjacent to Eastern ticket hall at Bond Street Crossrail Station.  There was a high risk to excavation stability effect on time-critical mining cycle of the SCL tunnel advances.  DAL enabled no adverse impact on permanent works, no impact on local community or stakeholders, work all done off-line.  DAL and BAM Ferrovial Kier (BFK)

CEEQUAL, Borders Railway Project, Whole Project with Interim Award: Borders Rail – lining Scottish Borders to Edinburgh.  Design philosophy for sustainable value engineering.  Cost-effective solution using collaborative engagement.  Remedial works not uniformly designed to standards to retain the historic stable assets, so were developed using pragmatic risk assessment.  Philosophy of re-use of existing stable assets.

Engineering Excellence Awards, Ore Tunnel Refurbishment, Winner: Victorian brick lined tunnel, numerous temporary repairs works completed but stress fractures and deformation had occurred.

ICE SE England Engineering Excellence Awards, Ore Tunnel Refurbishment, Structure Award: Designed permanent remedial solutions.  Track drainage, tunnel lining, mesh sprayed concrete and resin grout injection.  Rock bolt design.
